Deborah Bakare is the senior social worker at AFRUCA Safeguarding Children. As part of her role, Deborah works with Black and African families to provide cultural assessments and positive parenting interventions to families intending to develop their knowledge and skills in order to improve their parenting. Deborah provides education and awareness as it relates to Safeguarding children as well as advice on specific cultural practices and how they are understood within the Child Protection system. Deborah also delivers specialist trainings to practitioners aimed at engendering positive engagement while working with African families and communities.
